Current Opportunities
We're always looking to expand our connections to the community and to create a symbiotic arrangement with other people who are creating things in ways which are relevant to us. We're always looking for local artists, musicians, craftspeople, and tinkerers to co-create something new and interesting. We like to think we don't actually have any "employees," but rather a pool of talented and passionate individuals connected to us in varying ways, supporting us as we do them. Occasionally these individuals work with us in more permanent ways, but not because we "hired" them. Rather because they created their own position.
So; any opportunities posted here generally operate in this way. You will be given a sphere of influence and a small set of responsibilities or tasks that we would like to have done. Beyond that, if you have an interest in greater involvement, we will work together to expand the possibilities and responsibilities as makes sense for all involved, and create new projects within which there will be a mutual interest.
Below is a short list of connections we would like to make. Please contact us via the form at the bottom of the page if one of these areas excites you.

Event Organizer
We have been running monthly shows at our location, and are looking to get someone involved to organize these events, work with bands, design a monthly flyer, take pictures the day of the show, etc. These are free shows, essentially offered as a community service. We would like to offer you, as the organizer, some form of payment, but it will be minimal. We can discuss options. There is the possibility that this position can eventually grow into a more solidified position as a band relationship specialist here at Guitar Wars.
Some useful skills to have:
Some useful skills to have:
High Importance: People SkillsThis is likely a job for more extroverted sorts. Make phone calls, represent us, schedule shows and make the sure the bands all understand what to expect.
|
Medium Importance: Current Connections
A big part of this is going to be finding bands who are looking to play. Having connections in the local music scene is a plus. If not, be excited and willing to make them.
|
Bonus: Photography / Graphic Design
Designing monthly flyers and taking pictures at shows (or even taking pictures of bands for the flyers themselves) both require some very basic abilities in graphic design and photography.

Artists
Artists! We offer simple, transparent, flexible, no contract partnerships that allow you to share your inspiration and talents and make some money doing so. It can be as simple as coming in to the store, showing us a few examples of your work, getting a copy of your ID, us handing you a guitar or other canvas to work with, and off you go. Bring it back when you're done, it hangs on our wall, someone falls in love and purchases it.
You are paid when the instrument sells, and we will work with you ahead of time to discuss just how much you can expect to charge for any given complete work. Remember that with few exceptions, people are paying for a nice instrument with cool art, not art that looks like an instrument! That is to say; while the art ads to the value of the instrument a bit, it is still not more valuable in this context. This is important to remember when doing this sort of work. Doing more with less is key.
